SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Tis the season of giving, and we're making sure thousands of local children have a very Merry Christmas.
As you can see the holiday spirit is alive here as the lobby is flowing with toys! Each year Holiday Hope brings the community together to help families around the Coastal Empire – and Low Country - have presents under the tree.
So far, we've seen a huge response from the community. In partnership with the Salvation Army and Bluffton Self Help, toys that are donated will be distributed to families in need. Bluffton Self Help reported seeing a significant increase in requests for assistance, with over 350 additional children on their list this year. The Salvation Army said they are seeing a record number of families - many due to the recent storms.
With 17 toy drive events across the region, and dozens of local businesses involved – your donation makes a direct impact!
"The need is significantly bigger this year. They're seeing hundreds of more families that have applied for help through toys for tots. Those two organizations. We've seen a great turnout," said David Hart, WSAV's Vice President and General Manager.
It's not too late to make a donation! You can still drop off toys at one of our many locations - such as right here at WSAV. We'll have all of our locations listed here.
You have until next Wednesday to drop off a toy and make someone's Christmas bright.
