MCINTOSH COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) - An altercation early Sunday morning in Mcintosh County has led to a shooting and the death of one individual.
On Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 1:48 a.m., deputies with the McIntosh County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) were dispatched to a shooting around Highway 99 and Swamp Road. Upon arriving, officers observed hundreds of people in the area, with some groups still actively fighting.
Deputies located 41-year-old Tony James Ferguson suffering from a gunshot wound and assisted McIntosh County Emergency Medical Services in life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, Ferguson succumbed to his injuries while in the care of the Southeast Georgia Medical Center in Brunswick.
MCSO's Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and began their investigation. According to witness reports, the shooting stemmed from an altercation between partygoers.
