HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WSAV) - Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue (HHIFR) responded to a deadly structure fire late Tuesday evening that killed one person and a dog.
According to HHIFR, officials responded to the fire at Victoria Square Drive in the Victoria Square Neighborhood at 10:35 p.m.
The initial crews found a fully involved three-story home, with fire extension to the exterior of the homes on each side.
The home's single occupant, a relative of the homeowner, was found deceased inside the home along with a dog. Another dog was able to escape the blaze and was found outside the home.
The fire caused extensive damage to the home. Two adjacent structures were also damaged, but both are occupiable.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating in conjunction with Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) and Fire Rescue.
