Spooky season 2024: Local Halloween events

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – It's officially spooky season in the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry. To celebrate, check out this list of fun, festive events.

Bluffton Police Department Safety Spooktacular

The Bluffton Police Department is hosting its 4th annual Safety Spooktacular on Friday, Oct. 25, at Oscar Frazier Park (7 Recreation Ct.). The free event is an opportunity to learn more about local agencies and nonprofits that partner in the interest of public and personal safety.

Organizations will be handing out Halloween candy and officers will be grilling hotdogs. Attendees of any age are encouraged to wear costumes and compete in the contest at 6:30 p.m. (dogs, too!)

Bring Your Own Pumpkin

Local Savannahian Halloween enthusiasts Dawn and Chris Koz are hosting the annual BYOP "Bring Your Own Pumpkin" Carving and Halloween kick-off celebration on Saturday, Oct. 26, starting at 6 p.m.

Attendees of all ages can walk the grounds of their residence at 1702 King George Blvd. and compete in a pumpkin carving contest with prizes (tools provided).

Savannah Jaycees Trunk or Treat

The Savannah Jaycees are set to host their annual Trunk or Treat event on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. in their parking lot located at 101 Atlas Street (next to the Rambam Day School). This free, festive event is open to the public.

Statesboro Malloween

The Statesboro Mall (325 Northside Dr. E) is hosting a fun-filled evening starting at 6 p.m. on Halloween, Thursday, Oct. 31. Malloween will feature trick-or-treating at participating stores until supplies run out. Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to come dressed in their best costumes.

Statesboro YMCA Trunk or Treat

The Statesboro Family YMCA will host its 5th annual Trunk or Treat on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 4 to 6 p.m. at 409 Clairborne Ave. Local businesses and organizations will host trunks to hand out candies and goodies. Costumes are optional but encouraged.

Donations of candy (individually wrapped/pre-packaged) and small sensory toys can be dropped off at the Welcome Center Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., Saturday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. or Sunday between noon and 6 p.m.

Wicked South Haunted Forest

Venture through a chilling and spooky outdoor event with new props, scenes and scares. The Wicket South Haunted Forest in Pembroke (3001 Lawrence Church Rd.) is open on Fridays and Saturdays in October, plus Halloween on Thursday, Oct. 31, and Nov. 1 and 2. It's recommended that you purchase tickets online in advance to avoid missing out on the fun.

A percentage of online ticket sales and onsite concession sales will support Project Graduation for Southeast Bulloch High School, a safe and sober place to celebrate their hard work.
