SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The holiday season is stacking up to be a big one for toys. While many people are going for online deals, others are building up memories at local shops. One local toy store in Savannah is helping children this holiday season.
At The Magical World of Toys, it’s all fun and games - literally! Toys and costumes coat the walls of the cozy store that is tucked on Waters Avenue in Midtown Savannah.
Christmas is next week, so the store is kicking into high gear preparing for the holidays with toys.
While the toy industry is facing challenges this year - primarily due to continual inflation - small stores such as The Magical World of Toys are keeping the magic alive.
Dante Pierson founded the toy shop a few years ago. Owning a toy store was something he always wanted to do.
"I like it, I think the kids who come in like it. So, it's fun to watch a kid come in. When they walk into a toy store for the first time. A real toy store. They walk in they are like, "oh wow!"
It's not a section - it's a whole store," said Pierson, the owner of the Magical World of Toys.
The toy store will continue to spread holiday cheer just down the road at Memorial Hospital.
"One of the things that we are trying to do is fill 50 stockings to bring to the kids on Christmas. We were able to accomplish that goal last year. This year, I reached out to some of my vendors. We are able to fill 50 stockings again and are going over there (the hospital) on Christmas day," shared Pierson.
The store is one of the few locally owned toy stores in the Coastal Empire that's helping children have a present under the tree this year. Pierson pointed out that their toys are unique, and you can't find them at a large chain such as Target or Walmart.
The toy shop offers shopping options for every holiday customer. For parents unsure of what to purchase for their kid's birthday, the store offers birthday boxes. The perfect registry for stress free decisions. Of course, what is the holidays without a wish list? The Magical World of Toys also offers wish lists for children.
