STATESBORO, Ga. (WSAV) - The Statesboro Police Department (SPD) has arrested a suspect in an Aggravated Assault case that left a victim with a gunshot wound.
SPD officers originally responded to a male suffering from a gunshot wound at the Octane Food Mart in the 1400 block of Northside Drive East. Upon arrival, the victim communicated with detectives that the shooting did not take place inside the store. The victim was then transported to a Savannah hospital.
After reviewing surveillance footage at the store, detectives identified a person and vehicle of interest. Using the Flock system, officers were able to locate and stop that vehicle approximately two hours later and detain the three occupants.
Interviews and a search of the vehicle led detectives to charge James Deon Scott Jr, 38, of Statesboro, with Aggravated Assault.
He was then transported to the Bulloch County Jail. He currently remains there pending further judicial action.
