Thanksgiving turkey, fixings giveaways in the Coastal Empire, Lowcountry

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Money can be tight during the holiday season, which is why many local organizations are giving away free turkeys and sides for folks to still have Thanksgiving dinners.

Here are giveaways in our area:

Adams Funeral Services and Saint Philip AME Church: Turkeys and Trimmings

Saint Philip AME Church, located at 613 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Savannah, Ga.

Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, at noon

Adams Funeral Services and Saint Philip AME Church are partnering up to hold their second annual Thankful Turkey Giveaway with All the Trimmings. They said that 100 turkeys with all the trimmings will be distributed to those in need on a first-come, first-served basis.

Annual Extended Hands Thanksgiving Giveaway

West Broad YMCA 1110 May St., Savannah, Ga.

Saturday, Nov. 23 at 9 a.m.

The First Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church said they will be giving away 1,000 turkeys and 1,000 brown bags during their annual Extended Hands giveaway.

Low Country Crew and The Clementa Pickney Foundation

Low Country Crew is partnering with The Clementa Pickney Foundation for the third year to give away turkeys and hams. There is a limit of one turkey or one ham per car. Times may vary based on supplies.

Long County: Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway

Diversity Health Center at 213 McDonald St., Ludowici, Ga.

Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Sponsored by Manna House of Long County and Diversity Health Center, over 200 turkeys are to be given away. The giveaway is for residents of Long County and the turkeys will be first come, first served.

Promise Ministries Yemassee Turkey Giveaway and Fall Harvest

69 Railroad Ave., Yemassee, S.C.

Saturday, Nov. 23 starting at 10 a.m.

Turkeys will be first come, first served while supplies last and each vehicle is limited to one turkey. They will also host a yard sale with clothing, shoes and other items.

Trunk-or-Turkey Drive at the Enmarket Arena

Enmarket Arena Parking Lot J, 600 Stiles Ave., Savannah, Ga.

Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Chatham Subaru said they plan on giving away 1,000 turkeys on a first-come, first-serve basis during their sixth annual Trunk-or-Turkey. They do ask that you register through this link. Only one turkey will be given per vehicle, and they ask that you have your ID ready on the day of the event.

They said if several people are in the vehicle, everyone must present their IDs, andpre-registrations have to be completed before you can enter the checkpoint to receive a free turkey.

SA Recycling Savannah Staley

Saturday, Nov. 23 from 1-3 p.m.

SA Recycling Savannah Staley will have their Free Turkey Giveaway for the Tatemville community with turkeys from a locally owned business. They said that they have purchased 150 turkeys from Ogeechee Meat Market to give to folks in need.

LowCountry Food Pantry

Hardeeville City Hall, 205 Main St.

Monday, Nov. 25 from 5:30-7 p.m.

The LowCountry Food Pantry will be giving away Thanksgiving meal kits and free turkeys. The food will be distributed first come, first served to 250 families.

There will also be free sandwiches and soups.

They said that they will also have a drop off box for coat donations that will go towards the Department of Juvenile Justice to help young people in the system. Used or new coats, hoodies and jackets in teen and young adult sizes will be accepted.

Blessings in a Bookbag's 14th Annual Turkey and Fixings Giveaway

Tuesday, Nov. 26 from 11 a.m.

Blessings In A Bookbag is partnering with Eichholz Law Firm to give away turkeys, Cornish hens and meal bags with Thanksgiving fixings until supplies last.

They are asking for volunteers to help pack over 100 meal bags on Monday, Nov. 25 from 5:30-7 p.m. at 319 Eisenhower Dr.

Saturday, Nov. 23 from 1-5 p.m.

This community-centered event will feature not only the turkey giveaway but also family-friendly activities such as bouncy houses, face painting and more.

iHeart Media Brunswick Turkey in your Trunk

Glynn Place Mall, 219 Mall Blvd., Brunswick, Ga. (Old Ruby Tuesday side of the mall)

Monday, Nov. 25 at 11 p.m.

This event gives 120 turkeys and sides for free on a first-come, first-serve basis. Organizers say the line is typically full before 11 a.m., so to reserve your spot in line, be sure to get there early.
